Supporting Speech, Language and Fluency (i.e. Stuttering) Skill Difficulties
In our practice we support children with difficulties in the following areas:
Research supports the importance of 'early intervention'. Acting early means we can support your child so they can achieve the foundation skills needed for maximising their learning and communication skills.
- speaking clearly and speech production
- speech fluency (i.e. stuttering)
- difficulties listening, attending, processing and understanding instructions
- difficulties understanding and using concepts (e.g. describing words like big, little, tall, colour concepts, position word concepts like in, under, behind, between)
- not babbling and/or late talking
- difficulties using words or putting words together to make sentences
- difficulties using grammar (e.g. leave off word endings like plural 's' such as cats, confuse pronoun use such as "Me do it" instead of 'I will do it.")
- word finding difficulties
- expressive vocabulary difficulties
- difficulties expressing what has happened or telling about experiences
- difficulties explaining something clearly and in the correct sequence of events
- difficulties with narrative skills, such as retelling a story
